Sheep wool Lampaan villaa

Villan hienous on 54, villakiharoita on 3 cm matkalla keskimäärin 6-7.

The shearing of the sheep is now over for this autumn, and we have gotten finnsheep wool from our friends. I have sorted out some of the wool to be sold for spinners.

This wool is lustrous, soft, curly and clean from all vegetable matter. It is about 7-9cm (little over 3 inches) and there are good distinct and tapering staples. It's fineness is about 25-26 micron, there are 6-7 wool crimps in 3 cm (little over 1 inch). The wool above is straight from the sheep, so there is a lot of lanolin in the wool, and the smell of sheep.
I washed gently part of the wool, so there is quite not so much of lanolin in that wool and the fibres stuck together a little.
I have now all these wools in my shop.

Myös ruskeaa villaa on pieni määrä. Villan tapuleiden kärjet ovat haalistuneet auringossa kesän aikana (niinkuin hiuksetkin tekevät), myös villan värissä on eroja.

Here is natural brown Finnsheep wool. The color in the tips of the staples has faded from dark brown to light beige during summer (sheepwool does this like your hair in sun). There are different shades also in the darker brown.

I have new mittens almost ready, so I think there will be two new kits in the shop next week-end:)

Uudet lapaset ovat loppusuoralla, ensi viikonloppuna on varmaan kaupassa kaksi uutta pakettia:)

  1. Hi Leena don't worry about breaking the chain-Tagging is meant to be fun not a penance ( at least that I have been treating it) and if it hd not fallen on a day I was having off from working I prbably would not have responded I really enjoyed reading your seven facts, I am quite astonished by number of plants in your garden
